“I don’t know about anyone else, but with so much music coming out on a daily basis unless a band really moves me someway I just tend to move on to the next thing. Long gone are the days that I let an album stew for days, weeks, or even months. I mean with five days of consecutive music currently on backlog as I type this what do you expect? There is nothing like that rush clicking on a new track that you’ve never heard and then, BOOM! You’re transported and amazed and completely bowled over! That happened to me when I was just making rounds on the internet searching for new music (I already admit I have a serious new music addiction, don’t judge me.) when I came across 2 Hearts & Chemicals, a band consisting of Bi-Coastal Eli Lhymn and Stephen Biebel out of Los Angeles and New York City respectively.

The released a wonderful EP in November entitled Coming Home. The moment I heard the first track, Paradise Lost, I thought to myself “Holy shit, this is BIG!”. The song, and really the whole EP and bonus tracks are just so sweeping, in fact on their bandcamp page they describe it as cinematic and I couldn’t describe it any better than that. This is music that transports me to those wonderful moments in the city at night with friends, the laughter, the tears, everything. Enveloped in a tower of shoegaze, synths, and hazy vocals this EP is well paced, with both highs and lows in tempo and feeling.

Like I said before, it starts of with Paradise Lost, a track that has this big, larger than life synth-pop m83 feel to it that you can’t help but groove. Then, it drops off with beautiful sweeping instrumental string arrangement. This feeling continues through the song Hallways. On the instrumental track Arriving, it starts with a very electronic house/techno moment with a string arrangement in the background and then transforms into this synth-pop shoegazey beat, which is what these guys do very well! There is also a cover of Placebo’s Teenage Angst which I highly suggest you check out. And fortunately for us they are working on a second release right now! These guys are ones to watch out for, dats fo sho. Sorry I had to. Just enjoy and pick up your copy of the EP and bonus tracks on their bandcamp page.” - Magiska
